PENGGUNAAN APLIKASI NOVELTOON UNTUK MENINGKATKAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN TEKS CERPEN PADA SISWA KELAS XI-1 SMAN 1 BAITUSSALAM

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of using the NovelToon application on improving short story reading comprehension skills among students of class XI-1 at SMAN 1 Baitussalam. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design using the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 20 students selected through purposive sampling technique. The research instruments included reading comprehension tests, observation sheets, and documentation. Data collection techniques were carried out through pretest, treatment using the Noveltoon application, and posttest. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-test. The results showed that the students’ average score increased from 59.7 in the pretest to 81.25 in the posttest. The hypothesis testing result indicated that the value of was higher than , meaning that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, the use of the NovelToon application was effective in improving students’ short story reading comprehension skills. In addition, the application also increased students’ motivation and participation during the learning process.
